ABOUT SCHOOL:
Our school has many different students with ages ranging between 3 to 16 years old. It is located in Cuba, a small village of about 300 thousand inhabitants, in Baixo Alentejo, Portugal at about 20 km from Beja and 150 km from Lisbon.
We are a very involved school, acting in the community actively and always counting on the community support. We are also a very “green” school; we were awarded a green flag from a Portuguese national association that many schools work with.
This region is mainly a rural area. Our village has only one more school, it is a professional school.
We have programs for students with specific social needs; learning difficulties as well as disabled students.
Most of our students don’t have the opportunity to get to know people from different cultural backgrounds.
In this project we have the opportunity to show our students, how people live in Europe, get them in touch with international contacts to broaden their horizon, increase understanding of other peoples and make them understanding the importance of living and working in an European context.
It was also an opportunity to learn with other and through others using their acquired skills to our benefit and ours to theirs.
